[football] Nehru Cup: Syria Thrash Sri Lanka 4-0

Syria thrashed Sri Lanka 4-0 in the league match of the Nehru Cup in New Delhi. The Lankan team, who were high on confidence after their 4-3 win over Lebanon two days ago, could not stand the Syrian pressure. They let in the first goal at the 26th minute when Mohammed Ali Zeno scored for Syria. Abdel Razzaq Al Hussain scored the second at the 34th minute. Abdul Fattah Alaga scored twice at 37th and 55th to leave the Lankans no chance of a comeback. Syria are the best placed team now with two wins and with a healthy goal difference of +6. However with two more matches remaining, they have to continue their performance against Lebanon and India.
Tomorrow, Lebanon face Kyrgyzstan to keep alive their hopes of gaining a final spot. Match starts at 1830 hrs IST (1500 hrs CET; 1400 hrs GMT). To watch the live streaming of the match click here during the time of match.
