[hockey] Australia Reach Final of Women's Chmpions Trophy

Australia beat the Netherlands 2:1 (1:1) in their last round-robin match which brought them into final. It was clear that just the winners of this game can play for the Gold Medal. With an enthusiastic crowd in the back the Hockeyroos will compete for the Champions Trophy against Argentina who had already qualified on Thursday. The Bronze Medal Match will be played between the Netherlands and Germany. The first match on Sunday morning is the game for the fifth place where China take on England again.

England is already qualified for they next Champions Trophy competition in Nottingham because they host it. China however need to win tomorrow’s encounter to participate as well.
Today was also the day of the records: First China’s team-captain Ma Yibo turned the most successful scorer from penalty goals in Champions Trophy history and afterwards Argentina’s team-captain Luciana Aymar equalled the record of the most played matches in Champions Trophy competition.
