However in the second set Roddick was broken to give Del Potro 5-3 lead. Roddick came back with a break but that was not enough as he was broken again and Del Potro won the set 7-5. The third and final set was fit to be the deciding set of the tournament where none of the players were broken and the set rolled to the tiebreaker.
In tiebreaker, Roddick saved 3 championship points as he got back from 3-6 to 6-6. However he could not stop the Argentine from winning his second ATP tour title of the year as he wrapped up the tiebreaker 8-6.
This was second straight final defeat for Roddick as he lost the final of the Wimbledon Open, the last tournament he played.
Now both the players will leave for Montreal to play the next ATP 1000 tournament there alongwith other top players.
