Fernando Verdasco and Caroline Wozniacki won the men's and women's title in New Haven. Fernando Verdasco defeated Sam Querrey 6-4, 7-6(6) in the men's final and Wozniacki won over Elena Vesnina 6-2, 6-4. This was first ATP tour title of verdasco this season and the career first hard court title. For Wozniacki this was her career fifth title.
Earlier in men's semifinals Verdasco defeated Igor Andreev 7-6(4), 7-6(5) in a highly contested semi final while Querrey won over Jose Acasuso 6-3, 6-4.
On the other side, defending women's champion Wozniacki defeated Italian Flavia Pennetta 6-4, 6-1 and Vesnina got over Amelie Mauresmo 5-7, 6-1, 6-2.
